JFS Announces Application Assistance for New Holocaust Compensation Program

The Serving Our Survivors (SOS) program of Jewish Family Service of Colorado has announced a new Holocaust compensation program provided by the German government. The program is limited to Holocaust survivors who performed work in Nazi-controlled ghettos in World War II and there are certain eligibility requirements that must be met.

Rafael Spiritual Healing Center to Offer Bereavement Support Group

Rafael Spiritual Healing Center, a program of Jewish Family Service of Colorado (JFS), will offer an eight-week Spiritual Healing Bereavement support group beginning on Thursday, June 5, 2008 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Healing Center, located in the JFS building.

The group, which will meet weekly over an eight-week period, will provide spiritual and psychological support for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one. It will offer a unique Jewish perspective to the grieving process.

Arthritis Foundation and Jewish Community Center Relieve Pain and Stiffness With Aquatic Program

The Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Programtm will relieve pain more often with Hydro Therapy classes starting soon to complement ongoing Arthritis classes at the Robert E. Loup Jewish Community Center, 350 S. Dahlia St. Developed by physical therapists specifically for people with arthritis, this low-impact, joint-safe warm water program has been documented to help decrease arthritis pain and relieve stiffness while increasing flexibility and range of motion.

The instructors all have received certification from the Arthritis Foundation and completed in-depth training on arthritis and the Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program. During 60-minute class periods, participants will go through a series of movements and activities designed to increase mobility and range of motion. The low-impact classes are suitable for every fitness level and do not require any swimming.
