Baking challah together builds community – Join us for the Boulder JCC’s Annual Great Big Challah Bake, presented by the Women of the J!

Everyone is welcome to join us for a hands-on experience to create challah. Challah is a braided bread, which is made with eggs. It is often eaten on the Jewish Sabbath and holidays.  You will create the bread from scratch while connecting with old and new friends and building community.

Challah Bake Co-Chairs Debbie Garelick and Eti Young will assist us in preparing and braiding challah dough to bake at home just in time for Shabbat

This year’s program will start at 7 pm to better accommodate participants to have dinner before arriving at the JCC. The doors will open at 6:30 pm and there will be a desserts-only break while the dough is rising. The program will end at approximately 8:30 pm.

All (ages 12 and up) are welcome, regardless of religion, gender, or identity. You do not need to identify as Jewish to participate in this or any program at the Boulder JCC.

This program is gluten-free friendly, as we are offering a gluten-free dough option. However, there will be gluten in the room. If you wish to use the gluten-free dough, please select this option when registering.

We are again partnering with Moe’s Broadway Bagels to donate loaves of challah to people in our community experiencing food insecurity. When you complete your registration you will have the option to add an extra challah for donation.

Thursday, November 16 | 7 – 8:30 pm | $36 per person (includes ingredients and dessert reception)
