Meet the Chefs
Born in Israel, raised on cheesesteaks in Philadelphia, and now a fixture of the Denver restaurant scene, Alon Shaya has been nominated for five James Beard Awards and was named one of the 50 Most Influential Jews in America by the Forward. He and his wife Emily live in New Orleans and love food, tennis, and fly fishing, not necessarily in that order.
Liliana Myers began her career in the food industry behind the counter of her hometown delicatessen. She studied chemical engineering in college, which helped in the kitchens of France, where she perfected her skills as a cook and pastry chef. She joined Alon Shaya at Safta in 2018, and she’s been happilyÂ
creating modern Israeli desserts to the delight of Denverites ever since.
