Event Details

While America has been a safe haven for Jews around the world, American Jews have confronted episodes of discrimination and exclusion since the colonial period. In recent years, this hatred has tragically turned violent, and antisemitism remains an enduring issue in our times. Join Dr. Joshua Furman for an examination of historical responses to antisemitism in Colorado and Texas. With the help of archival sources from DU’s Beck Archives and the Joan and Stanford Alexander South Texas Jewish Archives at Rice University, Dr. Furman will discuss common themes linking these episodes to more recent events, and consider the broader consequences of normalized prejudice in our society today.
