Our Shinshinim: Connecting CO Kids to Israel
Using technology, these teens are working harder than ever
After a much earlier than anticipated departure, our four shinshinim have settled back into their lives in Israel, but their connection to our community remains vibrant and strong.
Since landing in Israel, the shinshinim have, like JEWISHcolorado, #GoneVirtual. They’ve continued to lead and participate in religious school classes, youth groups, and Jewish Student Connection clubs at multiple high schools across the Denver metro area.
In the midst of a global pandemic, despite the unexpected upheaval of our best laid plans, our shinshinim have adjusted with aplomb. Time zones are as nothing to our dedicated Israeli teens. Thanks to their youth, Gaya Ben Tzur, Itamar Cohen, Or Schraiber, and Dana Doron have happily and even enthusiastically logged on in the middle of the Israeli night to lead lessons for HEA’s Chai School program, as well as others. They designed and executed a Yom Ha’atzmaut celebration for Temple Sinai’s Hebrew School and hosted Houseparties for the many friends they left behind.
These next few weeks will continue to be filled with opportunities for the JEWISHcolorado staff and all of you to say thank you and farewell. Gaya, Itamar, Or, and Dana have each left an indelible mark on our community, and we will always be grateful for their enthusiasm, energy, and dedication. We wish them continued success and safety as they conclude their gap year.
