Repairing the World, One Step at a Time
The word ‘reparations’ has become a trigger, especially for those who are not familiar with the many ways it has come to be defined and understood—and the ways it continues to evolve as a concept. The Jewish community is no stranger to such diversity of perspectives on critical issues, and our Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) has, over the past year, begun to tackle one of the most intractable: systemic racism.
On May 19, the fifth JCRC Speaker Series program featured a panel of experts who spoke directly to how the Black community has been impacted and how reparations could ameliorate those effects, and what post- World War II reparations meant for the State of Israel and the Jewish community.
