To our Colorado Jewish Community:
Hello, my name is Kevin Farrington, and I am the Regional Security Advisor for the Secure Community Network (SCN) in Colorado. SCN is the official safety and security organization for the Jewish community in North America and is made possible in your community by JEWISHcolorado.
The need for this work has never been greater. Antisemitic incidents in the US and Colorado have increased more than 100% since October 7, 2023. Every week, I am working to mitigate threat incidents at Jewish facilities and organizations by providing security-related trainings, conducting threat assessments for Jewish facilities and Jewish community events, and providing a liaison with local, state, and federal law enforcement. We currently provide security-related services to more than 115 Jewish facilities and organizations statewide, free of direct cost thanks to the critical funding and support from JEWISHcolorado.
In the first 5 months of 2024 alone, we provided:
• 34 security trainings for 966 participants
• 28 security walkthroughs
• 24 security assessments
• security presence at 47 events
• 139 consultations
• 22 Nonprofit Security Grant program consultations
• 90 law enforcement briefings and meetings
Being able to leverage my experience and training from more than 30 years in the FBI and the US military in support of the Jewish community here in Colorado is extremely rewarding. Nothing is more American than being able to practice one’s religion free of fear and intimidation. Every day, I am working alongside these Colorado-based Jewish facilities on security matters, and this is only possible because of this community’s support for JEWISHcolorado.
